Ride for Rural Kids has now finished
20 Oct 2012 - 27 Oct 2013
The ride kicks off in Toowoomba on 22 October 2011 with a 45km community bike ride and country music star, Lee Kernaghan, will perform that evening at the first of two concerts being held that week in support of the charity.
Some fantastic community activities are planned throughout the event before the team crosses the finish line in Emerald on 28 October 2011.
A very committed team of riders with a great sense of community undertook the inaugural Ride for Rural Kids in 2009 and raised $41,500 for the Aussie Helpers Children's Fund. The team is proud to be back in the saddle and riding this year to support the tremendous work being done at Ronald McDonald House in Brisbane.
The team includes National Rugby League referees, Ben Cummins and Gerard Sutton, National Rugby League video referee, Bernard Sutton, and Chris Sutton who referees in the Toyota Cup competition. Lee Kernaghan will also be travelling with the team and performing at several local events throughout the week.
National agribusiness, Ruralco Holdings Limited, is very proud to be supporting this event and pleased to be working with Herds of Hope, a national fundraising initiative created by members of the Australian red meat industry in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Both organisations have a strong connection to rural and regional communities and value the opportunity to help make a difference to children and families in need.
